Introducing the New FormatIf you’ve completed our other phases, you will see that this phase is designed a bitdifferently than the previous phases because we’re focusing more on you—the teen, as yougrow into the person God has uniquely created you to be.While you’ll still find guidance, tools, and reflection activities in this section, it’s going to feela bit more independent. Why? What About Your Parents?We know that while independence is important, your parents still play a big role insupporting you during this phase of life. That’s why we’ve created a separate Parent Guideto provide them with the resources, tips, and encouragement they need to walk alongsideyou through this process. Their guide will help them:Understand your journey: As you grow, your experiences and questions will evolve.The Parent Guide will help them understand the key moments where they can offersupport, wisdom, and insight.Foster open communication: We want to make sure your parents know when and howto ask the right questions, provide encouragement, and offer constructive guidance asyou make decisions about your calling.Support your independence: The goal isn’t for your parents to make decisions for you,but to support you as you navigate the path that God has set before you. This lesson will help you recognizethose strengths, overcome self-doubt, and trust God’s plan for your life as you boldly step into thefuture He has for you.Activity Options:Option 1: Identifying My Strengths and TalentsWhat to Do: It’s important to start by acknowledging the strengths and talents God has given you.What are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? Take some time to reflect on your abilities, thingsthat come naturally to you, and areas where you feel passionate. AGES 13-15: WEEK 1 – EMBRACING CONFIDENCE IN MY CALLINGOption 2: Overcoming Self-Doubt and FearWhat to Do: Everyone experiences self-doubt and fear, especially when thinking about the futureand stepping into your calling. It’s easy to let fear or insecurities hold you back from pursuing whatyou’re meant to do. But remember, God didn’t give us a spirit of fear! This activity will help youidentify your self-doubts and replace them with God’s truth.Write down three fears or doubts you have about stepping into your calling.For each fear, find a Bible verse that speaks to that doubt. Write the verse down and reflect onhow God’s truth can help you overcome it.What You’ll Learn: You can have confidence in your calling because God is with you and His truth isgreater than any fear or doubt. When we trust in God’s plan, we can overcome challenges and findstrength in Him.Extend It: Take one of the fears you wrote down and take a bold step toward overcoming it. AGES 13-15: WEEK 1 – EMBRACING CONFIDENCE IN MY CALLINGOption 3: Trusting God’s Plan for MeWhat to Do: God has a unique plan for your life, and He will reveal it in His timing. This activity helpsyou begin to reflect on God’s good plan for your future and gives you the confidence to trust in itfully.Reflect on Jeremiah 29:11—God promises good plans for your life. Write a prayer or journalentry thanking God for His plan for your future. Ask Him for confidence as you move forward.Consider areas in your life where you might feel unsure or uncertain. Invite God into thoseareas, trusting that He will guide you in the next steps.What You’ll Learn: God’s plan for your life is greater than anything you could imagine. Trusting Hisplan is key to walking confidently into the future He has prepared for you.Extend It: Create a prayer board or vision journal with goals, dreams, and aspirations for yourfuture. God has a powerful purpose for your life, and fear doesn’t have to stop you fromembracing it. You’ll learn how to face fear head-on, trust in God's strength, and take the next stepsboldly in your purpose.Activity Options:Option 1: Identifying and Confronting My FearsWhat to Do: Fears are normal, but they don’t have to control you. Start by writing down the thingsthat scare you or make you feel unsure about stepping into your calling. These could be fears aboutfailure, rejection, or even just uncertainty about what’s next. Ask yourself, “What’s stopping me frommoving forward in my calling?”Is it fear of not being good enough?Is it what others think?Do you fear making mistakes?What You’ll Learn: Recognizing these fears means you can start to deal with them. The truth is, Godhas not given you a spirit of fear—He’s given you power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). Godhas equipped you to overcome fear and move forward confidently in your calling.Extend It: For each fear you’ve written down, create an affirmation or prayer that replaces the fearwith God’s truth. For example, if you’re afraid of failing, your affirmation might be, “Even if I fail, Iknow God will use it to teach me.” Keep these truths where you can see them—on your mirror, inyour phone, or in your notebook. Activity Options:Option 2: Building a Foundation of TruthWhat to Do: Fear often tricks us into believing lies, but God’s Word is powerful enough to replacethose lies with truth. Read through some Bible verses about courage and trust, like Joshua 1:9 andRomans 8:31. Reflect on these questions:How do these verses speak to my fears?What promises from God can help me feel more confident?When you reflect on these verses, ask God to help you replace any lies with the truth He gives in HisWord.What You’ll Learn: God’s Word helps you overcome fear. God is for you, and with His power, youcan face anything that tries to stop you. This week, your goal is to replace lies with truth and let thetruth of God’s Word be your guide.Extend It: Write down a verse or promise from God that speaks directly to your fears and memorizeit. Whenever doubt or fear creeps in, say this verse out loud to yourself. Thinkof one small thing that scares you but could be a step toward your calling. It could be tryingsomething new, speaking up, asking for help, or even just taking a small step outside your comfortzone. The key is to take one bold step even if it’s small, and see what happens.What You’ll Learn: You don’t have to wait until fear is gone to move forward. By taking action, youare building confidence. God will give you the strength to handle whatever challenge is in front ofyou.Extend It: Take one step this week toward your calling that challenges your fear. This could besomething as simple as:Speaking up in classAsking someone for helpTrying a new activityReaching out to someone for guidanceAfterward, reflect on how it felt to take action. Don’t be afraidto take the first step in testing your calling, even if it feels uncertain or intimidating. Here are someexamples of how you can test out your calling through real-life experiences:If you’re interested in environmental science or sustainability, try volunteering at localenvironmental organizations or shadow someone who works in the field.
